July News

Reminder of a Wade Cox tomorrow the 19th on course #3 which has been posted on https://www.facebook.com/groups/utahwaterski since June 18th, see details below:
We have 2 sets still available tomorrow for the Ski with Wade clinic on course 3 @ Utah Lake from 10-3
The current plan is to meet at the state park marina (Provo) at 9:30 to head out to the course.  We have the Taylor's boats Promo Response to pull us.
Cost is $75/set for coaching fees  $5/set for gas.  Payment will be directly to Wade via Paypal for the coaching.
I'll have iced bottled water and a few snacks on the dock.  Any other food you'll need to bring.
The current plan is to get the one person that is doing one set skiing, so we can return him to the marina and pickup a latecomer who has to work until 9am.
All others we'll set up a rotation that fits everyone's schedule - which means that you could have 3 skiers (about 90 minutes) between sets.
Let Don Trop know if you're interested in picking up a set or two.  first respondent gets the slots.
Don can be reached on his cell phone via text or call @ 801-231-0131

- The club board is working with the Utah lake Commission and Forestry, Fire, and State Lands to have the phragmities removed from course #1. Utah County Public Works is the agency that has been hired to do the work, stay tuned.

- The club is having a great year on Utah Lake! Course #3 is up and running with nice deep water, should be usable all year if the projections on https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Fyvuhy2yNY_Q4KBAPm3eFuKK6wsBInKbnoMrEXBf2VY/edit?usp=sharing are correct.

- Reminder that the club also has a course set up on Quail Creek near St George that has permits for year around use. More info at https://utahwaterski.blogspot.com/p/quail-creek-course.html

Adopt-A-Park cleanup on May 18th

We are excited to have the water in Utah Lake rising rapidly! It is already up to very close to 2 feet below compromise (http://data.cuwcd.com/data/reservoirs/index.htm#jump_public_ul) which means that course #3 is deep enough to use. Nate Allen spent some time getting the boat guides set up and verifying that the anchors for all of the turn buoys are still there. Thanks, Nate! There's still a little work to do to replace 4 of the turn buoys, though. You can view the directions for how to find course #3 here: http://utahwaterski.blogspot.com/p/club-rules-course-maintenance.html
If you would like to see a live feed of what the Provo Harbor looks like, you can view the link here: https://video.nest.com/live/cDr5GtmWpl. If you look closely, you may still see the dock for course #4 in the outer bay. It is awaiting repairs to its awning framework. It broke free of its two anchors over the winter but wasn't able to escape too far before it was rescued. Many thanks to those who spent several hours of their Saturday a few weeks back to reclaim it!
Finally, we have our Utah State Park clean-up day in just a couple of Saturdays, on May 18th, from 10am to noon. Lunch will be provided at noon! Each club member is expected to spend some time each year doing service at one of our Utah State Parks, preferably at Utah Lake. If you are not able to come to this event, you can show up at another time and ask if there's something you can do as a volunteer. Please don't ignore this important responsibility. We'd love to see those who can come on May 18th, although we know schedules are busy this time of year. The Park has some specific projects for us this year, so we won't have to spend all of our time picking up garbage! Finally, if you can come, please respond to the survey on our Facebook Page to let us know: https://www.facebook.com/groups/utahwaterski/permalink/10156397022498763/

If you would like to go into the boat show before the meeting go to the information desk/will call, they will have the club member list to verify your membership with a photo ID. Please email the club and let board know if you are coming or not and how many of your family will be eating so that the board can plan the food. You can also RSVP on the club's Facebook page at www.facebook.com/events/1875760295884084

To help the club/Garn save time and mailing costs please renew ($125) your club membership before the annual meeting so that you can receive your club membership card (card good for discounts) and club sticker for your boat. All of the information on how to renew is posted at http://www.utahwaterski.blogspot.com/p/members.html. The club strongly encourages everyone to renew their membership with Venmo (@utahwaterskiclub) which is preferred since there are no fees or PayPal (you don't need a PayPal account and can pay with a credit card) and then just email a scanned copy or picture from your phone of the member renew application agreement (see attached file) to utahwaterskiclub@gmail.com If you have been in the club for 20+ years AND are 60+ years old (confirm with Garn) you can renew as a emeritus member for $25.

Click HERE to join/renew your USA Water Ski membership.

Reminder that all members are required to attend one of the two Adopt-a-Park service project every year which are always held on the third Saturday in May and September. The board realizes that not everyone can attend one of the two Adopt-a-Park projects, if that is you go down on your own and ask a park ranger what you can do. When finished fill out a volunteer sheet and email a picture to utahwaterskiclub@gmail.com then give the hard copy to the state park.

The club is always looking for volunteers to serve on the clubs board which only meets a few times a year. If you would like to serve on the club board in 2019 email scotchipman@gmail.com, board members do not pay dues.
