Club members!
This is exciting!
The Utah Water Ski Club maintains three locations for slalom courses on Utah Lake with accessibility being dictated by water levels. In recent years, because of low water, we have been skiing Course #3 which has limited protection from the wind/other boats, but there is a course located just South of the Provo airport that has absolutely ideal protection on all sides. The last time this course was skiable was 2013 but now, with water levels high, we can finally get into Course #1 again! Those of you who have been in the club long enough know the dream it is to ski Course #1.
The club would like to call on the help of the members to find the existing buoy anchors and begin the process of reviving that location. We’ll plan to meet at the Provo harbor, North ramps next Saturday, June 29th @ 9:00 AM, drive to Course #1, scatter as many of us as can make it across the course, and spend some time digging in the mud. We have GPS locations of all the buoys so it should be a coordinated effort but it has been over a decade since this area has been accessible so we aren’t exactly sure what to expect.
If you are able to attend please text Nate Allen (801) 884-8809 so we can anticipate what to arrange for boats.
Note: Access by car on the airport dike road has been restricted by airport security so no one will be able to drive directly to the course by car as we could in the past.
Happy Skiing!!
