Fellow water skiers,
The Utah Water Ski Club board embarked on a project to save course 4B this past Saturday, September 18, 2021. We were able to rescue and reinstall all of the turn buoys and all but 2 or 3 of the boat guides and entrance gates. The course is now skiable at the current lake depth (between 4 to 5.5 feet at course 4B).
For those of you planning to take one last hurrah of a pass for the year, please keep in mind that water levels at Utah Lake are very low and you need to be careful to ensure that you don't run your boat aground on a sand bar. We had such an encounter just west of the airport on the way to rescue course 4B. You can check the current lake depth and levels in the Links/Weather tab of this website.
To safely enter course 4B at this current lake depth, you need to make a wide approach to the course. When you exit the harbor, drive towards Mount Nebo and watch the water depth. As soon as it starts to drop, you are in the channel to Provo Bay and can make a hard left.
Happy skiing!
